What is Deliverance?

As Exodus 14:13-14 (NIV) states, "Moses answered the people, 'Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32) illustrates the themes of deliverance and redemption also. The younger son, having squandered his inheritance, finds himself in dire straits. His return to his father represents deliverance from his wayward life, while the father's embrace and forgiveness symbolize redemption and restoration to his rightful place in the family.
